At 90-TEN Hockey, we believe in transforming young athletes into smarter, more skilled players. Our mentorship program focuses on critical thinking, game analysis, and strategic decision-making ā ensuring that every player gains the confidence and knowledge needed to compete at the highest level.

Derek Toninato
Owner | Skill Development Coach | Youth Hockey Coach
Derek Toninato was the co-founder, co-director, coach, and skill development pro for the Tulsa Jr Oilers Youth Hockey from 2012-2021. Also co-founding HD Engine, he coaches the 2008 team and co-directs this elite AAA spring/summer program. HD Engine has 8 Elite AAA birth year teams and has grown into one of the premier spring/summer programs in North America.
A native of Green Bay, WI, he played AAA midget hockey in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, as a senior in HS. He played 2 years in the USHL (Green Bay and Omaha), then off to college and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a business degree as a student-athlete. Derek continued and played four years as a professional, mostly in Tulsa, OK, but also in Kalamazoo, MI, Monroe, LA, and Jacksonville, FL.
A consummate master of skating and hockey skills instruction, Derek is passionate about teaching a love for the sport and enabling player development. He also strives to develop positive character traits in all his players that will last a lifetime.
Recently relocating to Dallas, TX, Derek now trains and coaches in the Tier 1 Dallas Stars Elite and Tier 2 Dallas Penguins youth hockey programs. He and his wife, Grace, and two children, Booker and Liv, reside in Allen, TX.
